Temporary Lane Reduction-Copeland Ave Bridge over the La Crosse River

Aug 2-Sept 24, 2021

Post Date: 07/30/2021

Temporary Lane Reduction: Copeland Ave Bridge over the La Crosse River

Beginning Monday, August 2nd, 2021, intermittent lane reductions and sidewalk closures will take place on the Copeland Avenue Bridge over the La Crosse River. The southbound lanes will be merged together to one lane and shifted over to the northbound side, which will also be merged down to one lane.

The temporary closures are necessary for bridge maintenance work, including deck patching, sidewalk replacement, and a polymer overlay. This is extended maintenance for the bridge deck that will repair existing deficiencies and prolong the life of the structure.

No formal alternate routes will be posted. It is recommended to use Highway 16 or Highway 35 as possible alternates. Motorists should be aware of changing traffic patterns and exercise caution. Delays should be expected in both the north- and southbound directions, especially during morning and afternoon peak times. The lane closures will shift to the opposite direction as work is completed on the first half of the bridge. All traffic lanes will be reopened to traffic by September 24, 2021.
