Business Spotlight

Katey Fortun

Katey Fortun is out to change the world. Watch this energetic entrepreneur tell us how to embrace our different-abilities through her multimedia platforms as she strives to take her message global.

Celebrating Our Different-Abilities

with Katey Fortun

Fueled by Passion

The year 2020 was ripe for entrepreneurs who see changing needs and can fill them quickly and easily, forming a business.

Some call it a side hustle – a type of employment undertaken in addition to one’s full-time job. Entrepreneurs are fueled by passion, but need a regular job to make ends meet.

Katey Fortun began her YouTube Video show just before the pandemic. She has big dreams of sending her message to the world – speaking, motivating, and teaching others that it’s okay to be different.

Paying For Your Passion

She Loves

the Day Job

… that fuels the Night Job

She has an Old Soul

Learning From All Who Are Around Her

Katey absorbs people. “I love old people,” she states while giving back energy and smiles. This extrovert uses that love of all people as she applies her interior design degree to selling commercial furniture. For Katie, it’s about more than just sales. “Maybe my job today is only to go in and make them smile. Maybe my job is to only go in and make them laugh or get them not thinking about her problems.”

She learned that lesson from her mentor, 75-year-old Doug Moskonas.

He’s technically her competitor at times, but she soaks in his wisdom.

Just a few years out of college, Katie met her then boss Doug at a meeting at the Burger King in Sparta. Katey sat with her orange juice, “Like a child”, she recalls, laughing. Doug had a coffee. It was there he taught her the most important lesson – put relationships before sales.

The Most Important Lesson

Shutting Off the Day Job

Katey wasn’t always on this positive path. Her family and long-time boyfriend, Chad, each staged an intervention a few years ago. She was working too much – from 4 a.m. to 11 p.m.

The fun-loving Katey was gone.

Her mom, dad, sister, grandma, and boyfriend asked for Happy Katey to come back.

Katey and Chad now have a self-check. He closes her laptop, letting her know to put the day job away.

KateyFortun.com began as a new outlet for her energy.
