[00:00:03] Emily Boland: We can offload that workload and ease their life there. And then also we can give them like an opportunity in a talking space Hey, did you try that cheese? Or did you try that? Yeah. meat or that cracker or a soup, all of these opportunities to connect and gather over food.

[00:00:21] Eve Molzahn: Second Chance to Shine.
[00:00:22] Eve Molzahn: We’re taking dogs that need extra training in order to become well rounded adoptable pets helping these animals live a loving life in someone’s home.
[00:00:36] Eve Molzahn: The trauma that they had doesn’t end overnight and you can’t fix it with love. It has to be recreating scenarios in a positive manner. And so that, that love for helping them is what makes me want to get up at 5. 30 every morning and come into work.

[00:00:53] Stephen Cohen: I love my community that I live in. I plan to live here for a long time. So my goal is to make it a better place.
[00:00:59] Vicki Markussen: Brody Meier He is co-owner of the Harley Davidson,
[00:01:03] Brody Meier: We Love everything about it. Getting to really meet and become friends with people almost instantly when it comes to a motorcycle, it’s so uniquely different than other things you might collect or other hobbies. I’ve got a boat, love doing it. It’s still not the same as riding motorcycle.
[00:01:16] Vicki Markussen: Kelsey Anderson, the co-owner with her hardworking husband, Raymond at Affagoto Lane Coffee Company.
[00:01:24] Kelsey Anderson: Coffee is our passion as well as community. And bringing that to La Crescent has always been an inspiration. And then bringing community together with coffee is actually our slogan. It’s on our logo. So bringing community together with coffee is definitely has driven us this far and will continue to drive our aspirations from here.
[00:01:45] Vicki Markussen: Jen and Jason Schlosser with the Features Fieldhouse and of course, features which they have owned since 2007.
[00:01:52] Jason Slusser: my passion is it’s to see new faces come in and to see the excitement on their face.
[00:01:59] Jason Slusser: How this is something that is so different from anything anyone’s experienced. And it’s right here in Must Salem. So that fires me up.
[00:02:07] Jenn Slusser: I think mine right now is just the total difference of thinking the creativity, the drive to make sure this works. The Complete excitement of doing something new, but doing it together.
[00:02:20] Jenn Slusser: I think it’s really benefited our family.
[00:02:22] Vicki Markussen: Kat Soper, owner of Jackson Plaza and Palm and Pine.
[00:02:26] Kat Soper: Whether it’s our work with the plaza or the work with my two yoga studios, I think just adding to people’s lives and I think providing spaces and places to connect people. Whether that’s with fellow neighbors or connecting to themselves I would say connection is what makes me passionate.
[00:02:48] Vicki Markussen: Tina Schumacher. She is the owner of several businesses. The ones that we see publicly are Java Vino and also Burn Boot Camp.
[00:02:57] Tina Schumaker: It’s about employing people. I obviously love my businesses, but I love my people. And I love to be able to employ people in a way that’s meaningful for them, that brings value to their life that they enjoy coming to.
[00:03:10] Vicki Markussen: Matt Curtis. His main business is Choral Tracks LLC. He owns rental properties. He owns Capella Performing Arts.
[00:03:18] Vicki Markussen: center. He owns Apothik, and that’s not even the end of all of your endeavors.
[00:03:24] Vicki Markussen: Getting into these new businesses, it’s just the appeal of starting something completely new that I. No, very little about learning and growing Faith Bluebird Bakery and Cafe.
[00:03:38] Faith Anderson: I think the people, just the employees, I love, like I said, I love being around them and I think also serving the people, seeing our regulars. And serving them and just seeing them smile and even telling us about their day and how they’re doing.
[00:03:53] Faith Anderson: Yeah, I think that really makes it for me and it helps me to enjoy it all.

[00:04:00] Vicki Markussen: My guest today is a very energetic Judd Steinbeck.
[00:04:04] Judson Steinback: I really care about my community and I really care about the environment. And I found that in Cooley Region Ecoscapes I’m able to do things with my time and work that really make this place a better place to live, both from an ecological perspective, but also just from a functional, like, how do we all be better humans perspective as well.
[00:04:27] Vicki Markussen: Abbie Rhude she is the brand manager for Conquer Products and the co-founder of Favor Colostrum.
[00:04:36] Abby Rhude: There’s a deeper meaning, like we want healthy families. . At the end of the day. . It’s like what’s important to us? ’cause it’s important to me and it’s important to Ben, that we can show up for our own kids, we can show up for our spouses.
[00:04:45] Abby Rhude: So this, it’s a small part of what helps us do
[00:04:47] Vicki Markussen: that.
[00:04:48] Vicki Markussen: Joining me is the co-owner. Mm-hmm. Along with Mandy Roush. But joining me is Nick Roush. They own root down yoga.
[00:04:59] Nick Roush: I have seen firsthand and been party to the life changing aspects of yoga practice and that community’s effect on people, and I don’t want that to ever stop. I want that community to continue to be the gift to people that it has been. And continue to help people flourish in their own lives. And I always get my biggest reward seeing the success and prosperity and inspiration and life of others. And so for me, if I can help make that happen for you, then.
