1930 La Crosse Master Builders and Contractors Association Questions Creation of Bandshell in Levee (now Riverside) Park
In 1920, the City of La Crosse looked to build a monument to former La Crosse Mayor W.A. Anderson. Anderson envisioned and created Levee Park (aka Riverside Park) as well as the park system for the City. The monument was the bandshell, raised through Anderson’s family and the community, including school children. The La Crosse Master Builders and Contractors Association spoke out questioning the expense.
